USATAA Social Justice Fund PDF Print E-mail

Charter

Purpose:

The Fund’s purpose is (1.) to support actions that empower economically and holistically those who have limited access to social power, (2.) to provide resources to address social injustices, and (3.) to fund resources that provide equal access to an enhanced quality of life beyond what recipients currently experience.

The goal of the Fund is to align USATAA as an organization with other partners to aid in their efforts to free persons from emotional, economic, institutional and societal injustices. We commit ourselves:

  • to offer ourselves who know how to transact effectively in the field of social justice, and to pay all facilitation costs of that  assistance: and
  • to finance positive learning opportunities that build OK-OK nurturance of disenfranchised persons and organizations, and support the ongoing quality of life that empowers the positive ego states of recipients regardless of their knowledge of TA.

Objectives:

To encourage participants to invest in their own search for freedom, the Fund provides seed monies only.  Grants will be made in an amount up to 50% matched by other fund sources and made for a period not to exceed one year, with option to resubmit. Grantees will provide a final report on the impact of our grant.

Grants are made to support any of the following.

·        individual and organizational programming that fulfill the Fund purposes

·        individuals who are working to gain equality

·        efforts that promote TA or another freeing knowledge

Administration:

The Fund will be administered by a Board of Three Trustees who will be appointed on three year rotating terms by the USATAA Council. One appointee may be a person from a disenfranchised group who personally experiences social barriers to equality and who is not a member of USATAA.  The Board resides within the Social Justice Committee of the Council. The Board will research compliance of applications to the Fund purposes, select, monitor, and evaluate successful applications; and report all Fund activity to the Council and at general membership meetings of USATAA.

The Board will also plan and implement an annual fund raising effort and provide the Council with a method of building a corpus to meet the goal of grants being awarded from interest only. For instance, in the initial years, a percentage of donations may be designated on a planned schedule as non-discretionary. Such plan is to be presented to the Council for adoption.

The Board serves at the discretion of the USATAA Council. With 60 days’ notice, the Council, which has sole authority, may revise the composition of the Board and adjust the Fund administration. Distribution of monies is authorized by the USATAA Council Coordinator of Finance.
